AI Actions
AI actions rewrite, summarize or answer with an AI model. They run on your Mac by default, so they’re free, private and work offline.
Run one
- Action menu: Select text and pick one. Proofread and Rewrite: Professional sit in the menu; the rest are in the AI group.
- Launcher: Press ⌃⌥Space and type its name. With nothing selected, type or paste the text to work on.

{selection | ai:"Proofread"}or{ai preset="Proofread"}. See Tokens. - Dictation: Clean up what you said before it’s inserted. See Dictation.
The result panel lets you Replace the selection (⌘Return), Insert After it, Copy, or Retry. Type Extra instructions and press Return to rerun with them. Drag the panel anywhere, and press Esc to close it. The Show the last result again shortcut brings it back.
Built-in AI actions

Edit any of them in Actions ▸ AI Actions, and right-click one to Reset to Default.
Make your own
Open Actions ▸ AI Actions and click New AI Action.
- Instructions: Keep them short. The on-device model has a small context.
- Tone: Optional. Paste a sample of your writing and the result matches it.
- Input: Selected text, the clipboard, or a prompt you type.
- Result: Show it and let you choose, replace the selection, insert after it, or copy it.
- Provider and Creativity: Which model to use, and how precise or creative it is.
Providers
Set them up in Settings ▸ AI Providers.
- On this Mac: Apple’s on-device model. Best for short text.
- OpenAI-compatible server: Any server with an OpenAI-compatible API, including local ones like
http://localhost:11434/v1. Enter the base URL and an API key if needed, then click Refresh to load its models.
Turn on Use by default for the provider AI actions should use, and click Test to check it.
