Dictation
Speak into any app. Typefu transcribes on your Mac and inserts the text at the caret. Your audio never leaves your Mac.
Set it up
- Open Settings ▸ Dictation.
- Set a Shortcut.
- Pick a Mode:
- Hold to talk: Record while you hold the shortcut. Let go to insert.
- Press to start and stop: Press once to start, again to stop and insert.
- Download a speech model. Models download once, then dictation works offline.
- Allow microphone access when asked.
Press Esc to cancel a recording.
Recognition
- Language: Pick your language, or let Typefu detect it.
- Vocabulary: Names and terms you use often, so they're spelled right. For example
Typefu, SwiftUI, Kubernetes. - Remove filler words like "um" and "uh".
After transcribing
Pick an AI preset to run the transcript through before it's inserted. Use Proofread to clean up grammar, or make your own preset to translate or format what you said. See AI Presets.
