Background Monitoring
Since iOS 14, it is not possible for apps to listen to the system clipboard in the background to honor privacy.
To observe the clipboard and save clips, you have to explicitly allow it. PastePal supports a few ways:
Picture in Picture
PastePal shows a small PiP player to keep it running, hence able to listen to the clipboard.
To enable this, go to PastePal settings:
- Enable Monitor Clipboard: lets PastePal watch for system clipboard
- Enable Background Monitor: this opens PiP player
Now go to other apps and you can save content to PastePal as normal.
Slide Over on iPad
On iPad, we can enable Split View or Slide Over for PastePal to let it run side by side. This allows PastePal to check clipboard content.
Keyboard extension
Open PastePal keyboard extension. Allow Full Access to let PastePal Keyboard listen to clipboard.
To enable Full Access for PastePal Keyboard:
- Open System Settings on iOS
- Find PastePal
- Select Keyboards
- Toggle Allow Full Access to On
